The City of Cape Coral

Cape Coral, situated on Florida’s picturesque Gulf Coast, was created in 1957 literally from swamp land. After a breathtaking development, the city nowadays is home to about 180,000 inhabitants and serves as a popular destination for numerous vacation guests who appreciate the large number of beautiful vacation homes they can choose from. Cape Coral offers several golf courses, a Yacht Club with a small beach and a waterpark, which is open from March through September. In nearby Fort Myers, the Edison Winter Home is well worth a visit. The spectacular beaches along the Gulf of Mexico are only around 30 minutes away.

Leisure Activities

A vacation in Florida can be activity-filled but doesn’t have to be – it’s an ideal place for visitors who want to do nothing but relax. Popular leisure activities include boating and jet skiing, diving and snorkeling, fishing and bird watching. There are numerous golf courses and tennis courts in and around Cape Coral. The fabulous beaches along the Gulf coast invite you to spread out a beach towel and enjoy the sunshine and the sound of the waves.

Beaches

The beaches along Florida’s Gulf Coast are continuously voted amongst the best in the world. Soft white sand and an incredible number of seashells make these beaches so special. Many of them can be easily reached from your Cape Coral vacation home. Below is just a selection:

  • Lynn Hall Memorial Park, Fort Myers Beach: A somewhat busy beach with a fishing pier and several shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity
  • Lovers Key State Park, Fort Myers Beach: Very quiet and off the beaten track, can only be reached by tram
  • Lighthouse Beach, Sanibel: Popular beach with the well-known landmark, often a good place to spot dolphins
  • Bowman’s Beach, Sanibel: Quiet, remote, a true paradise for shell seekers

Shopping

A Florida vacation is also a great opportunity to go shopping. If you rent a vacation home in Cape Coral, you have the choice between several huge malls and outlet centers that are less than an hour away. For example:
